Kings Canyon

We arrived at Kings Canyon Resort on the 16th of May. We booked in for 3 nights to leave on the 19th of May.
In the afternoon a lady came around and told us about the Roadies show that her and her husband preform at the Outback B.B.Q. She also told us to put our shoes away because Dingos roam around the caravan park and they like to take shoes.( They took 6 shoes the night before) The toilets have a gate on them like pool fencing about 3 foot high to keep the Dingos out. One afternoon Todd was wandering around the park looking for us when a man came up to him and said that all the toilet blocks were locked ( 6 toilet blocks in total) Todd told him that the gates were to keep the dingos out and that he had to slide a bolt to open them, he was very relieved that he could go.
The next day when Todd opened the back of the car the mouse, that I wrote about in the previous blog, was sitting on the shelf then he ran back into the car out of site. There were no mouse traps at the little shop at the resort so we had to put up with him. Luckily he didn't show himself while we were driving!
We did the rim walk around the top of Kings Canyon. It was 7kms long and difficult in places. At the start we had to walk up 600 steps (made from the rock) to the top. Alanna and Luke were quite good but Careena didn't like it so much. Even though it was a hard and long walk it was well worth the effort. The walk was marked with arrows and the last arrow pointed straight down which was a bit of a shock. When we got closer we could see that the path was an easier grade than the start of the walk.( Not too many steps just a steep path that was winding down the side of the canyon.
Todd's parents flew over the Canyon in a helicoter.
In the evening we went to the Roadies show and had a good time as you will see in the photos.
Wednesday about lunch time one of the park staff came and asked us about when we were leaving because the office staff had us leaving on this day. Both Todd's parents and us told him that we were leaving on Thursday. All of us didn't realise that we had only paid for 2 nights instead of three. The man sorted it out and let us have the 3rd night free because the office had made the mistake.
We didn't see any dingos until the morning that we left. There were 2 walking around and one jumped up onto a park B.B.Q to lick it. Luckily we were in the car and out of their way.
I am glad that we were in a caravan because we were told about a couple that were staying in a tent and the Dingos were rubbing against the tent and they were trying to push it away.
We also did an easy walk to Kathleen springs.
